This RF sweeper is a cheap solution to quickly detect and locate all types of signal including CDMA signals. CDMA employs spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme (where each transmitter is assigned a code). Other wireless detectors can not detect CDMA signals. Originally invented by the U.S. military for anti-spy detection and contains radio frequency hopping technology called Code Division Multiple Access. This type of signal is normally hard to detect but can be easily and accurately detected with the G338.

Although this detector can find CDMA signals it won't detect devices that are not in use. This includes devices that are switched off - non active - sleep mode devices. The device must be active and transmitting a signal for it to detect. If the suspected device is off or not in use then it can't be found by detector. It will only detect when active and in use sending transmission.
